Until April 30th, 50% of all proceeds as well as 100% of all proceeds from items listed in the section “Library Charity” will go toward my local teen library program.
The teen program will always have a place in my heart, as that was the job that made me really decide to stay in the library system for the rest of my life. As it is, teen programs are HORRIBLY underfunded because funding agencies think they’re a joke. Teen programs provide safe places for nerdy, socially-challenged, or bored teens to come and hang out. In larger cities than where I live, teen programs are instrumental in fighting against teen drug addiction, gang violence, and more as teens are not out on the street between the time they get home from school and when parental units get home from work or the teens go to bed. Our teen program at my pubic library has an amazing set-up for nerds between the ages of 11-17 to com, hang out, and be kids and chill.
Any money we raise will be matched 100% by our Friends of the Library program! That means, if we can raise as much as we did for the Animal Shelter, we would be instrumental in donating over $600 USD to the teen program! That’s more money than we’ve ever had in two years from funding agencies.
